Results from a maiden drilling campaign at Xpedra Resources’ (ASX: XPD) Springfield gold project in New South Wales have demonstrated the presence of broad and shallow mineralisation within the deposit’s main corridor.

The 27-hole program was designed to systematically test and extend known zones of gold mineralisation within a 1,700 metre-long intrusion, while also beginning to test new targets along the corridor.

Best assays from four early holes of 44m at 2.03 grams per tonne gold from 1m including 7m at 4.04g/t and 12m at 3.46g/t from 25m, along with 24m at 2.97g/t gold from surface including 15m at 4.27g/t and 15m at 4.27g/t, are seen by Xpedra as indicative of a significant emerging gold system.

The company plans to commence a follow-up drilling program this week to test deeper beneath the shallow gold mineralisation intersected so far.

Southern Corridor Assays

The latest results align favourably with recent broad and shallow assays from the southern portion of the main corridor.

These returned highlights of 55m at 1.32g/t gold from surface including 15m at 2.79g/t from 7m and 6m at 4.09g/t from 7m, 37m at 1.9g/t gold from surface including 11m at 3.5g/t from 3m, and 16m at 2.66g/t gold from surface including 8m at 5g/t from 5m.

Thick and shallow high-grade mineralisation has now been intersected at Springfield over approximately 180m of strike and to around 70m vertical depth, remaining completely open to the north and at depth.

Assays remain pending for four holes drilled further along strike to the north and another four widely-spaced holes drilled to test the depth potential of the deposit.

Significant Exploration Upside

Managing director Scott Funston said Springfield had potential to represent a substantial shallow gold system with significant exploration upside.

“These latest assays continue to demonstrate the emerging scale and continuity of the Springfield deposit,” he said.

Mr Funston described the 44m at 2.03g/t hit “one of the strongest results received to date”.

“Despite assays still pending from eight holes, this week we are commencing a follow-up drilling program to begin to test depth extensions, as we believe there is considerable potential to delineate a sizeable deposit at Springfield.”
