- 02Over 70% of costs committed; procurement nearing completion.
- 03CIL tank erection underway; 900+ workers on site.
Toubani Resources (ASX: TRE) has reported that development of its Kobada gold project in southern Mali is on schedule, with first production targeted for the second half of 2027.
Overall progress continues to advance in accordance with the development schedule, with more than 70% of project costs now committed and key procurement activities nearing completion.
Engineering for the process plant is more than 95% complete and the last batch of vendor data is being incorporated into the final design.
Power plant engineering is almost 90% complete with all long-lead items ordered.
Process Plant Work Ongoing
Structural steel fabrication for the process plant has reached 80% (or 900 tonnes), with the first containers shipped to the port of Abidjan in Côte d'Ivoire.
The first process plant platework is ready for delivery to port for shipment, and all long-lead mechanical items (including the ball mill) have also shipped.
Electrical bulks, including all electrical cables, have been fabricated by international vendors and are being prepared for shipment to the port of Dakar in Senegal.
Medium-speed generator sets manufactured by Bergen Engines to supply stable and continuous baseload power for the Kobada plant have arrived in the capital of Bamako ahead of schedule, and will be transported 126 kilometres to site when required.
CIL Tank Earthworks
Toubani achieved a major project milestone last month with the start of erection works for the process plant’s carbon-in-leach (CIL) tanks.
African contract mining and civil engineering company Corica Mining Services SA completed bulk earthworks at the plant, and is continuing at the nearby tailings storage facility.
Structural steel erection is in progress for all non-processing infrastructure including the reagent sheds, electrical and instrumentation workshop, and plant workshop.
Preparation and formwork of the mill and crusher foundations are underway ahead of concrete pours this month, with all contractors mobilised to site to ramp up the resources required to maintain the project’s schedule.
Key management personnel have been appointed, including international mining executive Riaan Lombard to the role of project general manager.
Further positions will be recruited in collaboration with construction and operations teams at Kobada, Bamako and Perth.
‘Gathering Real Momentum’
Toubani managing director Phil Russo said Kobada was now firmly in full-scale construction mode.
“With CIL tank erection underway, all long-lead equipment including the ball mill shipped, nearly all procurement completed, and over 900 people working safely on site, this project is gathering real momentum across every work front,” he said.
“We are already looking beyond construction, with key operational personnel appointed and operational readiness activities ramping up to generate strong margins in the current gold price environment.”
“We remain on course to pour first gold in the third quarter of 2027 and establish Kobada as a prominent gold producer in the region.”
Kobada MRE Update
Toubani is progressing an update to the Kobada mineral resource estimate incorporating recent assays from drilling at the Foroko satellite deposit.
The new MRE is on track to be reported later this month and will inform the final pit design and an initial three-year detailed mining schedule for the project.
The company remains in a strong financial position with stream and equity funding in place and being drawn in line with the construction schedule.
An additional facility is being advanced to supplement its working capital position.
