Sky Metals (ASX: SKY) has returned high-grade tungsten results from surface sampling at the new Theirman Mines prospect, located close to its Tallebung tin-tungsten-silver project in central-western New South Wales.

Best assays of 7.44% tungsten trioxide and 0.09 grams per tonne gold, along with 2.01% tungsten trioxide and 0.05g/t gold, represent some of the highest tungsten grades identified within the company’s regional landholding and provide strong validation of the prospect’s exploration potential.

These results closely replicate historical rock chip sampling completed by YTC Resources in 2010 that returned up to 4.92% tungsten trioxide together with 0.83% tin, 3.71 grams per tonne gold, 10.9g/t silver, and 0.32% bismuth.

The consistency between historical and recent sampling programs significantly increases Sky’s confidence that the mineralisation is extensive and persistent across the wider prospect area.

Two Principal Trends

Compilation of all exploration data at Theirman Mines indicates that the mineralisation occurs over a strike length of more than 500 metres associated with multiple past workings developed on two principal mineralised trends.

The area incorporates the historical Theirman and Whytes Wolfram workings, where mining activity dates back to the late 1800s and historical records indicate small-scale production of tin and tungsten concentrates.

Mapping near Whytes Wolfram has documented a mineralised corridor extending over a 600m strike length and comprising multiple quartz-wolframite veins developed within a 40m-wide zone, with individual veins reported to reach true widths of up to 2m remaining open beneath shallow cover along strike.

The Theirman mine area hosts a series of quartz veins developed over 500m of strike within a 30m-wide structural corridor, with individual veins reported to reach widths of up to 5m.

The continuity of mineralised veining exposed at surface suggests the potential for a substantial system extending beneath the shallow historical workings.

Compelling New Target

Sky managing director Oliver Davies said Theirman Mines had been classed as a compelling new target and low-cost drilling would commence in the coming weeks using Tallebung exploration personnel, contractors, and infrastructure.

“The high grades of tungsten returned from both recent and previous sampling elevates the Theirman Mines prospect as a drill-ready target with potential for a substantial tungsten-rich mineralised system only 20km north of Tallebung,” he said.

“With a Tallebung diamond drilling program nearing completion and a reverse circulation campaign already scheduled to expand and upgrade that resource, we are in a unique position to rapidly test this new and highly prospective target.”
