Redstone Resources advances Saturn Cu-Ni-Co-PGE project in WA after access talks; RC drilling set to test targets near West Musgrave.

Redstone Resources (ASX: RDS) is progressing access negotiations with traditional owners to advance its Saturn copper-nickel-cobalt-platinum group elements (PGE) and PGE Reef project in the West Musgrave region of Western Australia.

The project covers 330 square kilometres of the Giles Intrusive Complex, a premier geological target considered highly prospective for PGE reef-style mineralisation, copper sulphide systems and copper-nickel-cobalt-PGE deposits.

Giles is host to the world-class Nebo Babel copper-nickel-cobalt-PGE and Succoth copper deposits owned by BHP Group (ASX: BHP) as well as the large PGE Reef and massive sulphide discoveries at the Dante project owned by Terra Metals (ASX: TM1).

Saturn’s namesake geological feature is the Saturn Intrusion, defined by a large oval-shaped intrusion approximately 13km wide and comprising at least 10 concentric magnetic rings over the north-west quarter of the tenure.

Each ring is interpreted to represent the magnetic layer of successive pulses of molten rock injecting through a cone-shaped intrusive feeder zone potentially connected to the Giles Intrusive Complex.

West Musgrave Proximity

Saturn sits 10km from Redstone’s flagship West Musgrave project, which contains the high-grade Tollu copper deposit and multiple copper-nickel-cobalt-PGE prospective layered mafic gabbroic intrusions.

Redstone has owned Saturn since 2008, with the limited historical exploration available focused on the edges of a magnetic intrusive complex that strikes east-northeast along the southern edge of the tenure.

The magmatic boundaries were found to be highly complex, containing multiple intrusions including fractionated magnetite-bearing layered intrusions rich in reef-style PGE mineralisation and generating encouraging diiscoveries at Halleys, Halleys NW and Last Frontier.

The thickness and grades of sulphide mineralisation at these targets give Redstone confidence that Saturn has the potential to contain one or more significant sulphide mineralising systems.

Broader Prospectivity Highlighted

Redstone chair Richard Homsany said Saturn represented an “exciting exploration opportunity” for the company.

“Despite only limited historical exploration, the project has already generated several encouraging mineralised targets, […] which highlight the broader prospectivity of the tenure for PGE Reef and Cu-Ni-Co-PGE style deposits,” he said.

“We believe Saturn has the right geological setting, scale and discovery potential to emerge as an important exploration asset within Redstone’s portfolio as we advance our technical assessment and prioritise follow-up work.”

Redstone is preparing to commence a reverse circulation drilling program at West Musgrave to evaluate priority magnetic targets for potential copper-nickel-cobalt systems such as the EM5, East and West Cigar and Hiding Maggie targets in the northeast corridor of Tollu.

The company is also planning exploration at a Tier-1 package of WA assets comprising the Mt Cauden (gold-lithium), Twin Hills (gold), Rudall East (copper-gold-base metals) and Cockatoo Rocks (lithium-caesium-tantalum pegmatite) projects, acquired last month from private explorer Hurricane Prospecting.
