Neometals Advances Barrambie Gold Project with Positive Scoping Study for Ironclad Deposit

Key points

  • Ironclad scoping study signals near-term Barrambie gold.

  • 10k–11k oz potential; <12 months to mine.

  • ±30% accuracy; price/cost sensitivity; further work.

Neometals (ASX: NMT) has outlined a potential pathway to near-term gold production following the completion of a positive scoping study for the Ironclad deposit at its Barrambie Gold Project in Western Australia.

The study establishes an initial technical and economic case for a small-scale mining operation based on existing mineral resources.

This positions Ironclad as a potential early development opportunity within the broader Barrambie portfolio.

While the results highlight encouraging project fundamentals, the company emphasised the assessment remains preliminary and subject to further technical work before it can make any definitive development decision.

Short-Life Mining Opportunity

The scoping study evaluated a conceptual mining scenario targeting a defined portion of the Ironclad resource, with a production profile weighted toward higher-confidence material.

The study showed the potential for gold production of between 10,000 and 11,000 ounces, highlighting a brownfields exploration opportunity to extend the existing resource.

Approximately 82% of planned feed is sourced from Indicated resources, with the balance drawn from Inferred material, reflecting a level of geological confidence appropriate for this stage of assessment.

Under the current plan, mining would be completed in less than 12 months, reinforcing the project’s potential as a short-duration operation capable of delivering early cash flow if advanced.

The company noted the study carries an expected accuracy range of plus or minus 30%, consistent with scoping-level evaluations.

Resource Anchors Development Case

Ironclad hosts a mineral resource of 285,000 tonnes at 1.6 grams per tonne gold for 15,000oz, providing the foundation for the development scenario assessed in the study.

The resource includes higher-grade zones in the 2.0g/t to 2.1g/t range alongside lower-grade material averaging approximately 0.9g/t, offering potential flexibility in mine scheduling and grade optimisation.

The deposit sits within the Murchison Gold Belt, a region known for historical high-grade production, but which has seen comparatively limited modern exploration.

Neometals recently completed infill and extensional drilling at Ironclad, culminating in an updated mineral resource estimate that underpins the current study.

Sensitivity Highlights Key Drivers

The study incorporated sensitivity analysis to assess the project’s response to key variables including gold price, operating costs and metallurgical recovery.

Modelled outcomes show project cash flow improves materially with higher gold prices, with a 20% increase delivering a strong uplift in returns.

Conversely, increases in operating costs or reductions in recovery rates have a negative impact on projected performance, underscoring the importance of cost control and process optimisation.

The company cautioned that assumptions relating to funding, costs and recoveries remain subject to change and may materially affect the final development case.

Advancing Toward Development

Neometals will now undertake additional work to refine the project and reduce technical uncertainty ahead of any future decision to mine.

Planned activities include grade control drilling, geotechnical studies, and further metallurgical test work to improve confidence in key operating parameters.

The company will also progress native title negotiations and statutory approvals required to support development.

Further drilling is expected to target extensions to the existing resource and assess opportunities to expand the scale of the project beyond the current study parameters.
