Sustainable packaging and materials producer MyEco Group (ASX: MCO) is set to launch three new recycled bin liner products under the MyEco range exclusively across the Woolworths (ASX: WOW) retail network this month.
Produced from 95% post-consumer recycled (PCR) soft-plastic waste, the liners are certified under the Global Recycled Standard (GRS).
This certification verifies the recycled content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions of a product.
The expansion will double the range currently stocked by Woolworths from three to six.
MyEco believes their bin liners will position the company as a key player in sustainable packaging.
‘Genuine Recycling Solution’
The MyEco range PCR range aims to support Australia’s National Plastics Plan (2021) and 2025 national packaging targets, which aim for 100% of packaging products to be reusable, recycled, or compostable.
The PCR range also complies with Australia’s National Framework for Recycled Content Traceability, representing an Australian first for bin liners available for purchase in major supermarkets.
Unlike many recycled products that are not made from post-consumer waste, the MyEco range offers a “genuine recycling solution” for soft plastics without compromising quality.
The products are designed to capture the growing recycled market, helping to reduce the reliance on virgin plastic and lowering petroleum consumption.
Retail Channel Growth
MyEco Group chief executive officer Marie de Perthuis said the company was pleased to strengthen its partnership with Woolworths and increase its growth in retail channels.
“We believe our 95% certified post-consumer recycled range will lift the benchmark for sustainability in the recycled soft plastic bag market,” she said.
“It will provide a genuine solution for soft plastic recycling and help address greenwashing in products that claim to be made from recycled content but have no independent certification to substantiate those claims.”
The new range will be available from 25 May across all Woolworths stores, as well as online through Woolworths and myecobag.com.au.
