Kingfisher Mining Extends High-Grade Sulphide Mineralisation at Copper Blow Project

  • 01KFM extends high-grade Cu at Copper Blow North Zone.
  • 0226m @2.57% Cu, 0.75 g/t Au from 73m.
  • 03South Zone confirms mineralisation; supports maiden MRE.

Kingfisher Mining (ASX: KFM) has confirmed the continuation of wide areas of shallow, high-grade copper mineralisation in the North Zone of the Copper Blow iron oxide copper gold (IOCG) project near Broken Hill in New South Wales.

Kingfisher is 75% owner and operator of the project, with the other 25% owned by Broken Hill Mines (ASX: BHM) in a joint venture arrangement signed in March.

Recent reverse circulation drilling was designed to build on momentum generated by a December campaign, targeting extensions of mineralised lodes identified last year and expanding the system’s known footprint.

It extended the project’s high-grade sulphide mineralisation a further 50 metres toward a major cross fault on the North Zone interpreted to be the boundary between the North and South mineralised zones.

Strongest Copper Blow Intercepts

Drilling returned some of the strongest intercepts to date from Copper Blow, with highlights of 26 metres at 2.57% copper and 0.75 grams per tonne gold from 73m including 13m at 4.07% copper and 1.2g/t gold from 75m, and 43m at 1.32% copper and 0.32g/t gold from 0m including 17m at 2.46% copper and 0.6g/t gold from 16m.

At the South Zone, drilling continued to define mineralisation that supports the project’s future potential economics, with best assays of 3m at 1.99% copper and 0.45g/t gold from 146m; and 2m at 1.46% copper and 0.46g/t gold from 140m.

Further exploration will aim to extend the mineralised lodes along strike and at depth to confirm the continuity and grade and move Kingfisher closer to a maiden mineral resource estimate (MRE) at the project.

The results from both zones highlight the potential for a low-cost, high-margin operation, capable of leveraging existing processing infrastructure in Broken Hill as part of an agreement with Broken Hill Mines.

Another Step Toward MRE

Kingfisher managing director Chris Bittar said the latest assays represented another significant step toward a maiden Copper Blow MRE.

“These latest drilling results continue to demonstrate the scale and quality of the Copper Blow mineralised system,” he said.

“Importantly, they confirm broad zones of shallow sulphide-hosted, high-grade copper mineralisation, while deeper drilling continues to show that the system remains open at depth.”

“Combined with the recently executed processing agreement with BHM, the Company is rapidly progressing the project along a potential pathway towards development.”

Kingfisher’s upcoming work at Copper Blow will focus on integrating the latest results into geological modelling, planning and approvals for its next major drilling program, reviewing and prioritising targets for testing, and progressing metallurgical assessment activities to support its ongoing evaluation of the project.
