King River Resources (ASX: KRR) has reported an approximately 79% hit rate from maiden Phase 1 reverse circulation drilling at its Mindoolah gold project, about 70 kilometres north-west of Cue in Western Australia.
The program returned significant gold intersections in 15 of 19 holes, with mineralisation encountered at an average depth of about 41 metres below surface.
At Bertram’s, standout results included 1m at 13.59 grams per tonne gold, alongside broader intervals of 12m at 1.10g/t and 4m at 1.62g/t that supported continuity along the prospect’s northeast-trending structural system.
The first hole at Le Soleil returned 3m at 4.70g/t gold including 1m at 10.70g/t before ending in mineralisation at 42m when swelling clays forced an early stop, giving King River additional data for follow-up targeting.
Targeting Model Support
Phase 1 combined planned first-pass drilling around historical Mindoolah workings with additional holes selected while drilling was underway as field mapping and observations improved the geological picture.
At Bertram’s, gold mineralisation is hosted in granite and occurs with northeast-trending dykes, structural contacts and quartz veining within a demagnetised zone identified by the recent high-resolution magnetic survey.
Drilling from opposite sides of the Bertram’s pit intersected the same quartz-vein system beside a northeast-trending intermediate dyke, supporting the interpretation that the mineralised system continues below the existing pit and along the structural corridor.
“Delivering a ~79% hit rate from our maiden Phase 1 RC program at Mindoolah is an exceptional outcome that strongly validates the geological and structural targeting model we have established,” managing director Graham Gadsby said.
“These results establish a clear spatial correlation between high-grade gold, quartz-vein systems, and zones of magnetic depletion.”
Phase 2 Drilling Nears
King River prioritised assays from Phase 1 ahead of its completed waste-dump drilling so the results—reported using a 0.3g/t gold lower-edge cut-off—could be incorporated into final targeting for the next campaign.
Phase 2 RC drilling is scheduled to begin in early October, with Jarahfire Drilling set to mobilise to test priority targets developed from Phase 1 results, geological mapping, historical exploration information, and the existing magnetic dataset.
A Phase 2 aeromagnetic survey has been rescheduled to mid-October because inclement weather affected the survey aircraft at its current operating location.
King River does not expect the revised timing to affect the RC program.
“With Phase 2 drilling mobilising this month, we now have a proven calibrated framework to target the primary sources of mineralisation across Mindoolah,” Mr Gadsby added.
