Gorilla Gold Mines to Expand Drilling after Intersecting Further High-Grade Gold at Sovereign

Key points

  • High-grade gold intercepts continue at Sovereign, extending known mineralisation.

  • Increased drilling rig count signals accelerated exploration across the North Kalgoorlie Hub.

  • Resource growth potential remains the primary driver, balanced by assay timing and definition risks.

Gorilla Gold Mines (ASX: GG8) has reported significant high-grade gold intercepts from the Sovereign deposit at its 100%-owned Comet Vale gold project in the North Kalgoorlie Hub.

Notable intersections that extend known mineralisation within the deposit include 3.8m @ 21.0g/t Au and 2.1m @ 24.8g/t Au, with higher-grade slices reaching 0.5m @ 36.9g/t Au.

The Sovereign deposit currently holds a resource of 410,000oz @ 4.3g/t Au over a 1.3km strike.

Management indicates that parallel lodes developing around a lithological contact suggest further growth potential, with the strike length having the potential to extend beyond 2.5km.

Increased Drilling Pace Across Hub

The company is stepping up its exploration efforts across the North Kalgoorlie Hub, with an additional RC rig recently arriving at Comet Vale, bringing the total number of rigs operating at the Hub to five.

This increased intensity supports discovery and definition work, with four rigs specifically focused on Comet Vale, including follow-up on recent discoveries such as Diddy Kong, Donkey Kong, and Magilla.

Additional diamond drilling is also testing high-grade footwall lodes at Comet Vale, while one rig targets new high-grade discoveries at the Vivien Project.

Gorilla Gold has an aggressive exploration campaign planned for 2026, targeting 150,000m of drilling across its key projects.

Ongoing Exploration Success

These new high-grade results at Sovereign build on a consistent track record of exploration success for Gorilla Gold.

Earlier in May 2026, the company reported a new high-grade footwall lode discovery at Sovereign, including an impressive 9.3m @ 20.6g/t Au.

The broader North Kalgoorlie Hub, where Comet Vale is located, currently hosts a combined Mineral Resource of 1.2Moz @ 3.7g/t Au.

The Comet Vale Mineral Resource Estimate itself stands at 0.86Moz @ 3.7g/t Au.

Gorilla Gold has also seen significant results at its Mulwarrie Project, including high-grade intercepts extending beyond its resource boundary, highlighting the district's broader potential.

Assay Delays and Resource Uncertainty

While exploration success continues, investors should be aware of inherent risks.

Assay turnaround times are currently slower than usual due to higher laboratory demand.

This could potentially delay the reporting of future drilling results.

It is also important to note that reported intercepts are down-hole lengths, and the true width of these new high-grade zones has not yet been determined.

Resource expansion ultimately hinges on continued drilling success and the successful conversion of exploration targets into defined, economic mineral resources.
