Golden Globe Resources (ASX: GGR) has identified high-grade copper mineralisation around the historical Burns Spur mine at its Dooloo Creek project in Queensland.

Rock-chip sampling returned grades as high as 4.22% copper, while geological mapping identified mineralisation associated with brecciated and hydrothermally altered intrusive rocks.

Golden Globe has mapped mineralisation in an underexplored intrusive complex, alongside small historical copper and molybdenum workings and anomalous gold and copper in earlier samples.

The September quarter also saw the explorer complete first-phase sampling and mapping at its Alma project, where laboratory results remain outstanding.

However, follow-up drilling at Dooloo Creek’s Eastern Breccia target encountered faulting, which prevented the holes intersecting the previously discovered mineralised zone as modelled.

Copper Signals at Burns Spur

Samples collected around the former Burns Spur workings included one grading 2.29% copper, 0.47 parts per million gold, and 57ppm silver, while another returned 4.22% copper.

The results coincide with visible azurite and malachite mineralisation and add to historical exploration that included a drilling intersection of 60 metres at 0.16% copper from surface.

Further field investigations were conducted over several campaigns during the quarter, with assays from the latest work yet to be received.

“Early exploration results from Burns Spur at Dooloo Creek were highly encouraging, highlighting the potential for a significant copper-gold-molybdenum system within the Ridler Creek tenement,” managing director Colin McMillan said.

“High-grade copper rock-chip results, mapped mineralisation, and historical workings provide a strong basis for follow-up exploration.”

Alma Moves Toward Drilling

At Alma, the company completed its initial field program across Area A in late September and submitted soil, stream-sediment and rock-chip samples for analysis in early October.

Three priority areas have been identified from historical exploration, with Area A principally prospective for gold, Area B for copper and gold and Area C for copper.

The program is examining a potential five-kilometre copper-gold anomaly where historical stream-sediment samples exceeded 150ppm copper.

Four historical prospects with reported copper grades between 1.35% and 9.1%, together with gold grades of 0.8 grams per tonne, are also under consideration, with results from further sampling and mapping planned across the largely untested anomalies in Area B to be combined with existing geophysical modelling to select drilling targets.

The explorer ended September with approximately $2.4 million in cash after recording $737,000 in exploration and evaluation cash outflows during the quarter.
