- 01Independent test: NOL8 delivered up to 118x more data per infrastructure dollar than Google RE2.
- 02General availability expected late October.
FortifAI (ASX: FTI) has reported an independently reviewed benchmark showing its NOL8 data-processing technology delivered up to 118 times more data per infrastructure dollar than Google RE2 under the most complex workload tested.
The six-test comparison found NOL8’s advantage increased from 4.1 times with 128 filtering rules to 118 times with 5,000 rules, as the demands of inspecting data grew.
Professor Amit Klein, head of the Federmann Cyber Security Center at The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, independently reviewed the testing methodology and results.
The latest benchmark follows performance testing published in April and adds independent scrutiny of NOL8’s economics under more demanding filtering conditions.
The findings strengthen FortifAI’s case for deploying its AI data governance platform through existing enterprise network channels ahead of planned general availability later this month.
Costs Diverge as Rules Increase
The tests compared NOL8 Technology V1.0 running on field-programmable gate arrays with Google RE2 operating on central processing units (CPU), using shared cloud infrastructure assumptions.
Each trial increased the number of filtering rules, introduced irregular bursts of activity, and assessed throughput and response time relative to hardware cost.
NOL8’s cost remained around US$2 per gigabyte per second of throughput per hour across the trials, while RE2’s increased from US$8 to US$240 on the same measure.
The NOL8 platform maintained latency of three to five milliseconds (ms) for up to 98% of the workload and throughput exceeding 950 megabytes per second (MB/s).
By comparison, RE2 latency reached 10ms and its throughput declined from approximately 100MB/s to 2MB/s as the tested workloads became more demanding.
Commercial Evidence Added
NOL8 is designed to inspect every byte of data entering AI workloads and apply security and governance rules consistently, rather than allowing sensitive information to pass unchecked.
The technology joined the Megaport (ASX: MP1) AI Exchange in June for proof-of-concept deployments alongside the network provider’s compute, connectivity, and storage services.
A separate multi-continent Megaport trial in August recorded roughly 3ms in-region latency and 10 times more governed data per dollar than legacy CPU-based software, although that exercise tested network coverage rather than increasingly complex rule sets.
NOL8 subsequently became available over Equinix Fabric at more than 60 global locations in September, broadening the channels through which enterprise customers can evaluate the platform.
General Product Launch
FortifAI expects general product availability for NOL8 by late October, ahead of the timetable previously set out in a February commercialisation roadmap.
Existing proof-of-concept engagements provide a route for partners and prospective customers to assess the technology before wider release.
“NOL8 inspects every byte and applies every rule with the same result every time, [which] is what enterprises need to trust AI with their data,” chief executive officer Kelly Herrell said.
“Third-party verification of that result matters to our partners at Megaport and Equinix, and to the customers they serve.”
“It gives them a proven economic case to take NOL8 to market."
