Emyria Poised for Operational Boost as TGA Broadens Psych-Therapy Prescriber Access

Key points

  • TGA widens Authorised Prescriber pool.

  • New eligible: psychology, medical, nursing, OT; therapists.

  • H2 2026: more clinics; Empax >100 clinicians.

[Expanded Prescriber Eligibility

Emyria (ASX: EMD) is set to accelerate its therapist recruitment and clinic utilisation following updated recommendations from the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA).

These changes broaden the eligibility criteria for the Authorised Prescriber scheme for psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.

Under the updated guidelines, the range of trained therapists eligible to serve as the non-prescribing therapist in the required two-person dyad has expanded to, with certain caveats, include professions such as nursing and midwifery, occupational therapy, and registered psychology.

Furthermore, Authorised Prescriber professional discretion may also incorporate additional therapy team members like psychotherapists, counsellors, social workers, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers.

Emyria anticipates these changes will accelerate recruitment and significantly improve clinic utilisation across its national Empax network.

H2 2026 Operational Benefits

The operational benefits from these TGA updates are expected to take effect in the second half of 2026, following final TGA endorsement and the completion of Emyria's workforce planning, recruitment, and training efforts.

Implementing these new recommendations will require Emyria to update its existing care models and submit them for review by its ethics committee before final TGA endorsement.

The company views this regulatory adjustment as a pragmatic response to growing real-world evidence in the field of psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Emyria’s existing Empax network currently comprises over 100 clinicians, providing a robust foundation for this expansion.

Progress on Clinic Network

This latest TGA development builds on Emyria's consistent progress in expanding its clinical footprint.

The company's first Victorian Empax clinic was activated and commenced patient treatments in Q2 CY2026, meeting its targeted launch objective for the period.

Emyria has also strategically diversified its revenue pathways, launching the Empax Global Partnership Program for international drug sponsors and contract research organisations.

This program leverages Emyria's established clinical delivery network to support both clinical trial execution and post-approval commercial rollout.

Domestically, Emyria has commenced targeted recruitment for psychiatrists and therapists in New South Wales, laying the groundwork for its fourth state-based clinical operation.

Authorised Prescriber status is also progressing across its clinics, with eight approved Authorised Prescribers in Perth, three in Brisbane, and one in Melbourne, alongside additional psychiatrists currently in the application process.

Outlook for Emyria

The updated TGA recommendations represent a positive regulatory development that could streamline Emyria's expansion and operational efficiency.

While execution risks remain, particularly around recruitment and utilisation ramp-up, the company is showing consistent progress in building its clinical network and partnership opportunities, positioning it for potential operational gains in late 2026.

Key risks include potential regulatory delays, challenges in accelerating recruitment and training, and the pace at which patient utilisation scales across its growing network.

The revenue potential from expanded operations and partnership programs also remains to be fully quantified.

Despite these factors, Emyria has shown consistent progress in clinic activation and regulatory enablement since mid-2025, positioning itself to capitalise on the evolving landscape of psychedelic-assisted therapies.
