Drilling at Caprice Resources’ (ASX: CRS) flagship Island gold project in Western Australia’s Murchison region has extended the mineralisation at the south end of the Vadrians target and illustrated growing mineralisation beneath the central zone.

Evidence of mineralisation to the north included a notable intercept of 7 metres at 4.5 grams per tonne gold from 239m, indicating that Vadrians is part of a broader, structurally controlled, gold system which remains open along strike and at depth, associated with a cross-cutting dolerite dyke.

Results from the southerly limits of Vadrians extended the interpreted southerly gold plunge by approximately 50m with notable assays of 5.4m at 6.4g/t gold from 357m and 2.6m at 3.2g/t gold from 348m, while new intersections from central Vadrians defined a growing mineralised position beneath the principal high-grade zone and returned a best assay of 5m at 1.8g/t gold from 264m.

Current drilling along the central structural break has also intersected mineralisation at the Eureka, Baxter, and Golconda targets, with gold preferentially accumulating where these structures intersect banded iron formation (BIF) host rocks across the project.

Major Drilling Campaign

Caprice has completed approximately 22,300m of a major 50,000m air core, reverse circulation (RC), and diamond drilling campaign across the Island project, with 30 RC holes for 6,000m across the Eureka, Baxter, and southern Island targets currently pending assays.

The company has planned to test extensions at New Orient (southern end) and emerging targets at Iron Clad and Chicago, as well as conduct broad-spaced RC work across the 1km gap in drilling between New Orient and Vadrians, using land-based drilling positions to test the interpreted northern continuation of the Vadrians BIF 150m to 250m beneath the lake surface.

Further assessments will be carried out on mafic-hosted mineralisation including reviews and selective re-sampling of existing drill core, while refinements of the geological and structural model will continue with a view to supporting exploration targeting and future mineral resource estimation work.

Island’s southern target areas—which include coincident magnetic and gravity anomalies associated with interpreted structural breaks—will also be systematically tested to determine whether additional gold mineralisation is hosted within the broader project area.

Growth Potential Highlighted

Caprice managing director Luke Cox said the campaign had highlighted Vadrian’s prospectivity.

“Our drilling continues to demonstrate the growth potential at Vadrians, with mineralisation extending down plunge along a structural break and remaining open along strike,” he said.

“The results reinforce our interpretation of a broader system with potential for significant depth extent like [the historical high-grade] Hill 50 deposit, located approximately 50km to the south.”

“We are also testing additional structural break targets across Island that display similar geological settings to Vadrians.”
