Beam Communications (ASX: BCC) has announced the release of the Zoleo Track service for enterprise and government customers to bolster the adoption of its satellite communicator in the business-to-business market.
The service has been launched by the Zoleo Inc joint venture which comprises Beam and US mobile satellite solutions provider Roadpost Inc.
It is expected to open up new opportunities to boost the number of subscriptions to the add-on Location Share+ service and increase the average revenue per user (ARPU).
Zoleo Track is a free app which will allow corporations to monitor, manage and locate their staff in real time to improve safety and operational efficiencies.
It is considered to be a valuable service for lone or remote workers, as well as frontline emergency services personnel.
Automatic notifications
When Zoleo Track and Location Share+ are active, organisations can receive automatic notifications relating to location updates, check-ins, emergency events and detailed “breadcrumb” tracking of selected staff.
Digital breadcrumbs are a series of data points which track the path of a device or individual using GPS technology.
The Zoleo Track portal supports topographic, street and satellite views and the data can be exported for offline analysis.
Other features include the ability to assign unique names and users to a Zoleo device, map filtering, device searching and reviews of historic location reports with date and time stamps.
Valuable tool
Beam managing director Michael Capocchi said the new service would be a valuable tool for larger organisations which have multiple teams of remote workers and emergency crews.
“Zoleo Track provides an important safety net to companies with staff working in the field or in isolated environments,” he said.
“The service will significantly improve the value proposition of Zoleo and open new opportunities for us to target bigger enterprise and government customers that require a larger deployment of Zoleo devices.”
European expansion
In May, Zoleo Inc commenced its expansion into Europe with the Zoleo satellite communications device now available in the United Kingdom, Norway, Finland, Sweden and Denmark.
The device will be sold directly via the Zoleo website and online through the Amazon marketplace, with Beam set to receive 50% of the profits from subscribers in the new markets.
Distribution in the Nordic region will be managed by the company’s authorised distributor Cirdan, which is an outdoor accessories distributor with an extensive network of retailers and dealers.
