ADX Energy Reports Positive Gas Flow Rates from Drill Testing of HOCH-1 Well

ADX Energy (ASX: ADX) has reported a successful clean-up flow from testing of Zone 1 of its HOCH-1 shallow gas exploration well in Upper Austria.

The well is the first of three prospects to be drilled this year at the ADX-AT-I exploration licence targeting the Miocene Hall formation gas sandstones, believed to contain biogenic gas.

ADX drilled and cased the completed well in mid-May, in preparation for production testing on the upper Hall and lower Base Hall formations.

Clean-up flow for the first sand interval perforated at 1,465 metres (Zone 1) flowed at an average 2.8 million cubic feet per day (or 467 barrels of oil equivalent per day) on a 16/64 inch choke with a flowing well head pressure of 940 per square inch (psi) and rising.

Down-hole pressure gauges will now be run through the well and Zone 1 will be produced at a stable flow rate for approximately 14 hours before a two-week shut-in and pressure build-up to define its extent and connected volume.

Two Testing Phases

ADX is undertaking production testing in two phases, the first of which will include up to three firm zones and potentially a fourth contingent zone in the upper Hall formation, with the second phase to focus on the lower Base Hall formation.

Sand intervals will be perforated sequentially followed with a brief clean-up flow.

The perforation sequence and subsequent flow periods will be determined by the inflow performance of each zone tested.

The company expects the pressure response recorded to provide an estimate of HOCH-1 well reserves potential for the basin floor fan (BFF) gas sand interval before ADX commences testing of further zones.

Low-Cost Development

ADX holds a 50% economic interest in the HOCH prospect as operator, with the HOCH-1 well located approximately 2 kilometres from existing pipeline infrastructure, supporting rapid, low-cost development.

ADX has estimated a mean prospective resource at HOCH of 8 billion cubic feet (bcf), with a high case prospective resource at 17.3bcf, calculated using SPE-PRMS (2018) standards.

Comparable wells in the Hall formation have produced initial rates of up to 9 million standard cubic feet per day or approximately 1,500boepd.

The GOLD-1 and SCHOE-1 prospects, which are also located across the ADX-AT-I and ADX-AT-II licence areas, will be drill tested later this year.
